On Sunday morning our church had the children’s Christmas Program. Being that everyone knows that Rick is a kid at heart, they asked him to be in it! Actually, there was more adults in it, not just Rick. It was a news report about the journey to Bethleham on Christmas night. The kids were the reporters and the adults were the news anchors, weatherman and cameraman. Rick was the weatherman, and he thought he needed to “get into character” for his part. He went to the local Goodwill store and found some pants that were a little too short, a shirt that was a little too small and a jacket and tie. He printed out the cover of “Weather for Dummies” and had that as a prop. Yeah, he over did it!!! Do you expect anything else??
The play was very cute and was even written by one of our own church members!!! She is very talented!!!
This last weekend, Rick thought he would start working on Noah’s new room. We are planning on moving Noah to the corner bedroom and our little girl will take over the baby room, which is closer to our bedroom.
We (okay, so Rick) are going to refinish the dresser. Rick wanted to take the pull handles off and we’re going to put some car/truck handles on each drawer. So as Noah was playing around, Rick started taking off the old handles. Noah then decided he needed to help!!! Even with a cold, he’ll still help out his Daddy!!
It’s that time of year again!!! We thought we’d take Noah to see Santa, even though we didn’t think he would really like it this year, but figured it was worth the memory!!! Santa was going to be at the gym Rick goes to and it’s only a few miles down the road.
We were actually a little early – yeah, early, can you believe that?!?! Rick thought it started at 9:00 and we got there about 9:20 to find out that it started at 9:30. (So technically, we were early by mistake!) We were pretty lucky that we were number 7 in line!! They also had breakfast there, so we got to have some pancakes and sausages to eat too. Noah devoured his pancake, and we even fed him breakfast before we left! It was a nice distraction while we waited for our number.
I was holding Noah so we could watch Santa before his turn, hoping that he would be okay to sit on his lap. I thought he might actually do pretty good because as we are standing in line, I asked him were Santa was and he got all excited and pointed to him. Then it was our turn…no such luck! As soon as I sat him on Santa’s lap, he looked up at him and started crying. We tried to get him to smile, but that just wasn’t going to work. The helper asked if I wanted to be in the picture and I told her nope – we wanted to capture the memory that Noah didn’t like it! Is that mean???
On Noah’s defense, he does have a pretty bad cold, so he hasn’t really been himself the last couple of days. So that could be part of it too. Before the picture, he didn’t look the best anyway…runny nose, coughing, red eyes. Maybe we shouldn’t have even tried the Santa thing, but if we didn’t do it now, we wouldn’t have gotten it done. I don’t think we are ever going to wait in the line at the mall for a picture with Santa. That might have all of us crying by the time we see Santa!!!
We decided that it was probably time to give Noah his first haircut. He doesn’t have a lot of hair, but what he does have, seems to be getting pretty long. So we strapped him into his booster seat and took off his shirt and away Rick went with the clippers. Noah must have thought it tickled because he laughed through almost the whole thing. You can’t really see it, but he’s laughing in the above picture.
Here’s an after picture…you can’t tell much difference in the picture, but he does look better!!! I guess you’ll just have to visit to find out for yourselves!!

Noah is definitely a climber. Now he likes to climb onto this table that is sitting right next to my desk (don’t get me wrong – he still climbs onto the kitchen table too!). As you can see, he uses the very edge of the steps to get onto the table. I guess he’s clever, so can’t be mad at him for that!

This table is usually where the Christmas Tree currently is, so the good part is that he’ll only be able to climb onto this table for about another month. I’m sure by then he’ll have figured out something else!!!
