Noah and Faith got to spend the day with Thomas this last weekend. We left our house at 8 am Friday morning and went with two neighbors. We were about there and Noah tells us that “Faith burped”. That hasn’t been a good thing to say, so I look at Faith and all of her breakfast was now sitting in her lap. Not a good way to start the day! I climbed in the back to try to start cleaning her up, but I don’t do very well…so I’m leaning over Noah trying to get some fresh air so I don’t get sick! As soon as we got there, I jump out (right into some mud), and Rick continues to clean Faith up as best as he could. We have not learned our lesson yet, so we did not have an extra pair of clothes for Faith…so as soon as we walked to the souvenir tent, she got herself a nice $16 tshirt. I think that is the most expensive thing in her wardrobe…and it doesn’t even look girly! Go figure!!! She would have also gotten some shorts if they had any, but being they didn’t, we just poured some water on her shorts and let it air dry.
Now that we have her smelling a little better…we can start our day with Thomas! Noah must have remembered from last year that there was trains to play with and that’s what he was asking for. We didn’t go on the actual train ride this year (Noah seems to be a little gun shy getting on anything that moves) which was fine, because he did all the other stuff. He did say when we got home that he wanted to ride on Thomas, so maybe he would have been fine. The kids got to play with lots of Thomas trains, sit in a firetruck, go thru a little haybale maze, jump house and slide, get a tattoo, watch a magician, petting zoo and have funnel cake!
After a few hours, we all left and treated the kids to McDonald’s on the way home.
Well, this week went very fast! My mom, sister and nephews came down for a visit the beginning of the week. They come Monday night and got here in time so we could rock out a little before bed!
Early Tuesday morning, Rick and I left while everyone was still sleeping so we could go out for breakfast and then head to a seminar that Rick had to speak at. It was nice that I could go along and videotape for him. After we got back, we went to the park to play. When the kids were in bed….we painted the living room!!! Mom had actually started a little earlier while Renae and I were off shopping!
Wednesday morning we all headed to the zoo. I was thinking we would only be there for a couple of hours before the kids would start getting pretty restless, but we ended up closing the zoo down!!! The kids were great all day and Faith only took about a 15 minute nap!
Thursday morning we finished painting and put the living room back together before they left. It looks great!!!
The time always goes way to fast when they are here. I had more fun things to do that we didn’t get around too. Guess they just need to make another trip!!!
The first week in May we spent in Mason City. Rick’s brother is from Washington and he was coming back with this little girl, Izzy, so we had to get together!!!! Rick got to spend some time with some of his friends and he spent a lot of time trying to find a place to work! His parents don’t have internet and Sprint does not work up there, so it was off to the coffee shop (which was usually pretty busy), to the library (but they block certain ports that we need to get into for work) and McDonald’s (they didn’t have any outlets, so had to make sure the laptop was charged up). It was a little frustrating, but I think he stayed on top of most of the work stuff that came up while we were there.
One of his friends owns a bowling alley, so we went to visit them before they opened one afternoon. Noah wanted to play with every color ball they had. The balls got to be pretty heavy, but they had a ramp that he could just push them down, so it worked out pretty good!
Noah and Izzy kept me pretty busy. They wanted to play outside a lot, go to the park and walk down to the train tracks. One of the parks was only about 3 blocks away, but it was at a school, so we had to do that one in the late afternoon and evening. The train tracks where about 6 blocks the other way, so we walked down there about every time a train went past – at least it seemed like it! Faith was a little crabby and very clingy while we were gone…I finally looked in her mouth and seen that she had some molars coming in…yeah, I guess that would make her crabby!
On May 5th, Rick and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We didn’t actually do any celebrating, but we did help cut down a big tree…does that count??? Paul & Marie have a tree that is brushing up next to the garage, so it needed to come down.
Even the kids helped!
We also had to get a picture with Grandma – okay, so it was my idea to take pictures…the boys wouldn’t think of that!!
While we were gone, we headed up to Rochester to visit my aunt and uncle one night!!! I can’t remember the last time I was there, so it was great to get to see them!
Hope everyone had a great Easter!!!! We took in a few egg hunts over the last week. We had our neighborhood one during the week and then went to one on Saturday morning.
We colored Easter eggs Saturday night. Faith played with some plastic eggs, while Noah dyed the eggs. Obviously, 18 eggs wasn’t enough…he had to re-dye some because he wanted to keep doing more!
We headed to church Sunday morning and they had an Easter hunt and some crafts to do for the kids. We also had a lily in front of church in remembrance of Dad. After church we went to Bass Pro Shop (the fish store, as Noah calls it) and they had a little egg hunt for the kids. They also had pictures with the Easter Bunny, but as soon as Noah seen it, he didn’t want anything to do with it. We knew Faith wouldn’t like it, so we just passed on that. They enjoyed playing on the boats instead!!!
The other day, Noah wanted to play drums…not uncommon in the Nielsen household. But after he got done playing, he got off the chair and handed me the drumsticks and said “mommys turn to play”. I told him that I didn’t know how to play the drums and that he could keep playing if he wanted to. Then he got all excited and said “I teach you…watch me”. Then he jumped back on the seat and started playing. So I guess maybe I’m the rockstar in training!!!
