Noah was baptized on Sunday at Crossroads Church!! He wore Grandpa Rodney’s baptism outfit and it fit him perfectly!!!
Paul & Marie came down on Friday afternoon and Janice, Ryan, Deanna, Jack, and Reid came down on Saturday afternoon. (Renae was not allowed to come down because she could have her baby any time now!)
After church on Sunday we came back to our place and grilled some hamburgers. After some cake and ice cream, the Krull family headed back to George.
Sunday morning we packed up the Durango and headed to Iowa for Noah’s first long trip. We weren’t sure how he would handle the trip, but he was great! He only woke up once to eat and get changed on the trip to George!!
Once we got to George, we stopped by Grandpa & Grandma Timmerman so they could see their great grandson. Then that night our family got together and had Casey’s pizza at Mom’s house. On Monday, Rick headed out to help Reid on the farm and me and Renae…well, we did nothing! We just sat around and talked and relaxed. Around 3:30 we headed to Reid’s farm and we grilled out with the whole family. On Tuesday morning, we went and seen Grandma Krull so she could see Noah and later on me and Mom walked on the George Trail and did some errends while Rick watched Noah for the afternoon. Tuesday night we made the rounds to all the aunts and uncles to show off Noah. He was such a tropper!!! Getting in and out of his car seat and getting held by everyone wore him out!!! Wednesday night we headed over to Ryan & Deanna’s and had supper with them. Thursday morning we woke up and got everything packed up and we headed back to KC.
It is great getting together and I can’t believe how big Jack and Kahle are getting!!!
He’s here!! Noah James Nielsen arrived in this world on July 27, 2008 at 7:28 pm. He weighed 8 pounds and 13 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. He even has some dark hair!!! Rick was very proud and jealous all at the same time!! View Photos
The delivery went fast without any complications, so there are no complaints here!! We actually went to Sonic Drive-In with our neighbors at 3:00 on Sunday to get some slushies. On our way there, I started having contractions about every 5-8 minutes. They didn’t hurt too bad and they were lasting about 20-30 seconds, so I didn’t think it was a big deal yet. But my neighbor thought different. She kept telling me to keep track of them and that we should be going to the hospital. I still didn’t think they were a big deal yet – I was thinking the contractions were supposed to hurt and last a lot longer before you go to the hospital – but what do I know?!?!
Well, about 4:30 we headed back to our house and my water broke! I guess it was God’s sign of telling us to get to the hospital being that I wasn’t paying attention to the contractions! So Rick jumped in the shower and I called the doctor to let them know we were on our way. On the way to the hospital, I started back labor – and boy, does that hurt!!!! They kept coming on stronger and stronger and closer together. We checked into the hospital at 5:06 pm and they brought me back to a room about 5 minutes later. They checked to make sure my water broke (which it had) and they checked to see how far I was dilated – which was between 4 and 5 centimeters. So they said I was staying and having a baby yet that night!
I needed a bag of fluids in me before I could get an epidural, so they got that going as fast as they could. Then it was time for the epidural!!!! After they had that in me, they checked me again and I was at 8 centimeters – I’m just glad they checked me after the epidural and not before, because I’m not sure they would have given it to me! After a little while they checked me again and I was fully dilated and they said I should start pushing! I’m just thinking that this is going way too fast and the doctor isn’t even here yet! I pushed a couple of times before the doctor came and when he got there, he put on his scrubs and was ready for the catch! After a couple more pushes, out came Noah!!!
I know there are a bunch of people out there checking to see if we’ve had our little bundle of joy yet. We are STILL waiting patiently…sort of!!! I’ve been making Rick go on walks with me in the morning and at night – it’s WAY too hot to be outside during the day! If he can’t do it, I’ll get my neighbor to walk with me. If they both want to do it, then I’ll go on multiple walks!!! I’m even going up and down our stairs to try to work the little guy out! I also read on the internet that eating pineapple can start contractions!! Our due date is tomorrow (Sunday), and our doctor said she would only let us go a couple of days past due…SO we will definitely have a baby within the week!!!! Wish us luck!!!
Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July!! We celebrated by going to Sears and getting a new grill!!! Our old one seen its last days awhile ago and we’ve been using our neighbor’s extra grill they had. Sears was having a sale on all their grills and we had some gift certificates for Sears, so thought it was perfect timing!!!
After our grill purchase we came back home and Rick packed up his drum set. We were heading to a party that the blues band was having. (Yes, Rick is in two bands – a blues band – “Royal Blue Band” – and a rock band – “The Recliners”). Scott is the guy in charge of the blues band and his fiancĂ© was having a party at her house – she lives in a pretty nice neighborhood, some of the Chiefs players are her neighbors and Tom Watson is another neighbor!!! They weren’t at the party, but they sure do like their fireworks!!! At the end of the night they gave us a great fireworks show!!
