Weatherman Rick

Posted by Rachel on Dec 16, 2009 in Rick

Weatherman RickOn Sunday morning our church had the children’s Christmas Program. Being that everyone knows that Rick is a kid at heart, they asked him to be in it! Actually, there was more adults in it, not just Rick. It was a news report about the journey to Bethleham on Christmas night. The kids were the reporters and the adults were the news anchors, weatherman and cameraman. Rick was the weatherman, and he thought he needed to “get into character” for his part. He went to the local Goodwill store and found some pants that were a little too short, a shirt that was a little too small and a jacket and tie. He printed out the cover of “Weather for Dummies” and had that as a prop. Yeah, he over did it!!! Do you expect anything else??

The play was very cute and was even written by one of our own church members!!! She is very talented!!!

Daddy’s Little Helper

Posted by Rachel on Dec 9, 2009 in Noah, Rick

This last weekend, Rick thought he would start working on Noah’s new room. We are planning on moving Noah to the corner bedroom and our little girl will take over the baby room, which is closer to our bedroom.

We (okay, so Rick) are going to refinish the dresser. Rick wanted to take the pull handles off and we’re going to put some car/truck handles on each drawer. So as Noah was playing around, Rick started taking off the old handles. Noah then decided he needed to help!!! Even with a cold, he’ll still help out his Daddy!!

Christmas Decorations…check!

Posted by Rachel on Nov 21, 2009 in Holidays, Noah, Rick

Over the last couple of days, I’ve been putting up our Christmas decorations. Needless to say, it seems to take a little longer when Noah is right there trying to undo everything you just did! But he did help put some ornaments on the tree…he also must not think they look quite right because he keeps taking them off and putting them in different places.

Here’s a couple of pictures of him helping Dad straighen the tree, hiding under the tree and also helping Dad decorate the top of the tree. Rick got the ladder out and then came back into the kitchen for about a minute, then went back to the tree and Noah was climbing the ladder. I seriously think he is half monkey!

Happy Halloween

Posted by Rachel on Nov 1, 2009 in Holidays, Noah, Rick

ScarecrowHope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. I think Noah really enjoyed his trick or treating experience!!! We dressed him up as a scarecrow, but he didn’t really like the suspenders, so he was trying to pull them off – he did get one strap off about 1/2 way through.

We started the night by going to our neighbors and had a Papa Murphy’s pizza that looked like a jack o’latern. Then we got the kids dressed and headed out to start trick or treating. I went along down the block but then came back to hand out candy. Rick said that Noah did really good and was getting really good at grabbing for the candy!! He did bring home some really good treats, but he doesn’t need all that sugar, so I guess I will help him out!!!!

It was such a nice night for trick or treating. There were a lot of neighbors that had a fire pit going in the driveway and sitting outside to hand out candy. After the kids were in bed, we sat outside around the fire pit and started eating the candy!!!

Here is a picture of the neighbor kids before we got going – Cecelia, Josh and Noah.

Our first house was across the street – Noah grabbed two pieces of candy and then wanted to chase the dog.

Pumpkin Carving

Posted by Rachel on Oct 30, 2009 in Holidays, Noah, Rick

Last night our good neighbors came over and we had a pumpkin carving night!! We first had dinner, which consisted of Pizza Mummies, Hotdog Mummies, Witch’s Fingers, Eyeballs, and for dessert there was Halloween cupcakes and Skeleton cookies.

We also had Rotten Apple Cider to drink. There are some gummy worms in there too, but they ended up sinking to the bottom.

After we were done eating, we cleared off the table and started carving. Okay, so the guys did the carving and the girls picked out the seeds so we could bake them later and we also ran after the kids. (I think our job was harder!) The boys did break out the power tools to help carve the pumpkins, so they were excited!!!

We had a fun night and now we are ready for Halloween!!!! I do have to get Noah’s costume ready yet, hopefully it will all work out like I plan! Then we’ll see how much candy he can get tomorrow night!!! Happy trick-or-treating!!!
