Girls Weekend

Posted by Rachel on Sep 28, 2010 in Around KC, Rachel

This past weekend, we had a GIRLS WEEKEND!!!! Pam Arends and Kellee Sheik spent the weekend at our house! Pam came on Thursday night and Friday morning we picked Kellee up from the airport! We were only in the airport for a few minutes and when we went back out to the parking lot…we couldn’t remember where we parked! We found it and then we were off to do some shopping…already! After a little shopping and some lunch, we came back to our place.

Friday night we headed downtown to the Plaza to go out to eat. My neighbor Corinne went along…she knows where everything is at!! We decided to eat at Brio’s Italian Restaurant. The food was great and my lasagna was HUGE!!

Saturday was spent by more shopping at the mall. We ordered some pizza and played games and had a few drinks at home on Saturday night.

Sunday morning we had a breakfast buffet at Hometown Buffet and then it was time for Pam to leave. Kellee needed her Vikings fix and we didn’t get it on any of our channels, so she was forced to listen to it on the computer while I watched the Chiefs go 3-0 on the tv! The Vikings won too, so Kellee was happy!!!

Kellee left early Monday morning to fly back to Wisconsin. I think we need to make this an annual event!! It was great getting together with great friends!!!

Faith Marie Nielsen

Posted by Rachel on Mar 23, 2010 in Faith, Noah, Rachel, Rick

Well, she’s finally here!!!! We headed to Shawnee Mission Hospital around 6:30 am on Monday morning to be induced. I started to get hooked up to the IV’s and monitors a little after 7 and at 11:13 am, Faith Marie Nielsen made her way into the world!! Everything went very well, so there are no complaints here! She weighed 8 lbs 14 oz and was 20 inches long.

As of right now (Tuesday and 2:30 pm), Noah has not met his baby sister yet. We think he has a little stomach bug, so we don’t want to bring him to the hospital just yet. Last night Rick stayed home with Noah and my Mom stayed with me and Faith at the hospital. This morning, Rick and Mom did a shift change, so Mom is spending time with Noah. If he’s doing better this afternoon, we might bring him to the hospital tonight to meet his baby sister.

We will be able to come home tomorrow, so that will be nice. I’m sure it will be an adjustment to get used to a newborn again. I just hope that Noah doesn’t bury his sister in all his Hot Wheels and trains!!

I’ll be adding more pictures, but for now, here are the pictures we have so far.

Still Waiting

Posted by Rachel on Mar 19, 2010 in Rachel

Well, we are STILL waiting to meet this little girl. My due date is tomorrow (the 20th), so maybe she’ll be like Noah and come on her due date. I think I must make it a little too comfortable for them in my belly. But lately, I’ve been trying to “force” her out. I’ve been eating some hot stuff, going for walks, or just standing around hoping that gravity will do it’s part and help this baby come out! All the walking and standing has had an opposite effect on me though – I had a doctors appointment yesterday and my legs are starting to swell up. I was told I need to relax and put my feet up. So what did I do??? Well, Rick did make me lay down during Noah’s nap time, but then me and a neighbor took the kids down to the park. Then we went to Taco Bueno for dinner. I loaded my tacos with jalapeños and salsa, hoping that would do the trick! Then we thought we would stop at Sonic for some ice cream (this is what I was eating with Noah when I went into labor, so figured it wasn’t going to hurt!)

My mom is on her way down as I type this. She has the next week off so she’ll be a big help when we have this little one! If I don’t go into labor by Monday morning at 7 am, then they are going to induce me. I’m not too excited about being induced, but at least there is an end in sight!!!

The photos were done by Amanda Trei with Bits of Life Photos a few weeks ago. She only lives a few miles from us and when she found me on Facebook, we started talking and she was willing to take some photos. She is also planning on doing some newborn photos too!!!!

Well, hopefully the next post will be that we have a healthy baby girl!!!!

And we will call him…Boots

Posted by Rachel on Feb 25, 2010 in Noah, Rachel, Rick

I’m not sure why, but Noah has been wanting to wear his snow boots around the house lately. He’ll go and grab his boots and bring it to us and say “please”. He gets all excited when we start putting them on and when he’s ready to go, he runs around the house stomping all over the place. They seem like they are getting kinda tight, but they must not be too bad if he wants to wear them all the time!

Not much else is going on around here. We are getting close to our due date – just a shade over 3 weeks away!!! At my last doctors appointment, I found out that I’m starting to dilate, so that makes it seem really close!!! Now every time Rick leaves, I get the whole “if you start going into labor, call me right away” speech. First of all, DUH, of course I’m going to call you….how else am I going to get to the hospital!!! And does he really think I’ll just surprise him with, “oh, by the way, while you were out, I gave birth to our daughter”?

30 Weeks and counting

Posted by Rachel on Jan 11, 2010 in Rachel

I thought I’d update everyone on the pregnancy. It seems like time is going so fast for this one – I’m at 30 weeks already. That’s 3/4 of the way done!! There are WAY too many things on the “Before Baby Comes To Do List”. We are getting some things done, but it just seems like there is never enough time to work on everything! When we break it down into, “there are only 9 more weekends to do this or that”, it doesn’t seem possible. But we’re not too worried, whatever we get done is good and whatever is left will get done…sometime!

I start going to the doctor every two weeks now for a checkup. It’s always nice to hear that little heartbeat!!! I’m still having those lovely round ligament pains, mainly when I’m laying down or trying to roll over in bed. So bedtime is usually a painful process.

Rick must have gotten tired of listening to me complain about my back ache, so he got me a prenatal massage at the gym he goes to!!! Yeah, it was GREAT!!!!! I told him that he needs to start giving me daily massages now…so far, that hasn’t happened!!!

I’m pretty sure, Noah doesn’t have any idea what is going on. He is way more interested in his cars, trucks and farm than what I have in my belly! Every once in a while, we’ll ask him where his baby sister is and he’ll lift up my shirt and point at my belly button, but then he jumps off my lap and gets a toy. I guess she’ll be here soon enough and then we’ll be trying to keep him away from her!
