Happy Father’s Day

Posted by Rachel on Jun 22, 2009 in Holidays, Noah, Rick

Happy 1st Father’s Day Rick!!! You are such a great father to Noah, we couldn’t ask for anything better!!

Rick was outside a lot on Father’s Day – working on his Nova. I really don’t think there will be a lot left of the car when he’s done with it!! He’s taking it all apart and then going to have it bead blasted to get all the rust and paint off. Then he will start putting it back together…with new parts. Hopefully this won’t cost too much!!!!

When he was done working on the Nova for the day we headed down to the swimming pool. It was hot and humid so it felt really good to get in the pool. I however, now have a sunburn. I forgot to put sunscreen on my back and of course I had my back to the sun so it would block Noah! The things we do for our kids!!!

Posted by Rachel on Apr 12, 2009 in Holidays, Noah

What? It’s Easter…and there’s an Easter Bunny?!?!?! This is so great!!!! I hope everyone else has a great Easter today!!!! I’m going to head to church in a little while for the Easter Egg Hunt…I’m just hoping I can get one egg before all the other kids get them all! Wish me luck!!! When we get back home from church, we’re going to have Easter dinner!

Big news…I have two bottom teeth!!!! I’m also getting around these days by an Army crawl….I’m not quite getting my tummy off the ground when I crawl…I like to just rock for a little while and then fall to my tummy and go!

Christmas Lights are down

Posted by Rachel on Jan 3, 2009 in Holidays, Rick

Christmas is officially over. The Christmas lights are down and the decorations are put away. The house looks bare now! I guess when a big 12 foot Christmas tree comes down, it will probably make a difference!!

Rick and Dave started taking down our lights first. After they were done with our house, the both had to make a wordrobe change into some tshirts. It was 65 degrees outside and they were getting hot in there sweatshirts. Then it was on to Dave’s house. They decided they didn’t want to move the big 32 foot ladder, so they “created” a long stick that would pull the lights off Dave’s house. It actually worked pretty good!! When they were done there, they were going to help Keith, but that guy is a little monkey running around on his roof and he was just finishing up. So then it was down the street to Alan’s house. He’s pretty afraid of heights and you could just see the poor guy shaking on the roof. He did use the “big stick” to pull off some of his lights. So he was very thankful he could use that!

Noah was outside most of the time watching the guys take the lights down. He did need a break to come in and have some milk and green beans!

Happy New Year

Posted by Rachel on Jan 1, 2009 in Holidays

Happy New Year!! We had a couple of friends over last night to celebrate the new year. We had all kinds of goodies to eat and drink and we did get in a game of “Battle of the Sexes” – and the girls won!!!! We almost forgot to turn on the tv to watch the ball drop in New York, but we remembered just in time! Once the ball dropped, the party favors started blowing!! Noah was in bed…he was a pretty tired boy last night. He didn’t get a very good nap in the afternoon and when everyone came over, he was too interested in what was going on to take a nap, so he was in bed by 8:30. We even thought we would let him stay up and party with us, but he was just too tired.

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable New Years Eve!!! Happy 2009!!!

Noah’s First Christmas

Posted by Rachel on Dec 28, 2008 in Family, Holidays, Iowa, Noah

Noah’s first Christmas was great!!! We traveled up to Mason City on Monday afternoon. We ended up hitting a detour, so it took us longer to get there – Noah did fine on the trip, it was Rick and I that were getting pretty restless! We opened presents at Rick’s parents house on Christmas Eve. We didn’t time it very well – we ended up opening presents when Noah was getting pretty tired, so he was more interested in sleeping. Christmas Morning we woke up and had some breakfast and then started packing to head to George. On the way through Emmetsburg, we stopped to visit Joni and her family for a little while to try to catch up.

Once we got to George, we had our family Christmas that night. The next day we lounged around and then had to get ready to have my Mom’s side over for Christmas that night. We were supposed to go to Klaassen’s house, but Deb got the flu, so she was obviously not feeling up to having a houseful of guests.

Saturday we had Christmas at Grandma Krull’s at noon. After we opened presents we headed out so we wouldn’t get back to Kansas too late.

We had a great time for Noah’s first Christmas and it was great to see everyone!!! I think Noah was excited to get out of his carseat when we got back though. We laid him on the floor and he just started kicking away!!

By the way, I would post some pictures…but that is the one thing we forgot in Iowa. So until I get our camera back, you’ll have to wait on the pictures. Sorry!! So the picture of Noah here is from Rick’s phone…not the best quality, but it will do for now!
