My sister and her family decided to come on down to KC for the weekend!!! They are such great troopers!! They brought our Christmas presents from Iowa being that we never made it back, so they got to watch us open some presents!! Noah did have a little help from the other boys!
It was great having them here!! Rick and I even got to go over to the neighbors New Year’s Eve party for a little while and they made us go out on a date on Friday night too!!! Micah helped Rick with the attic closet project, Renae cleaned and they both helped take down our Christmas tree!!! It sure would be nice to live closer together!!!! We could maybe get some stuff off our to-do list a little quicker!!!!
On New Years Day, the neighbors came over with their little girl and I think all four of them were on a sugar high or something!!! There was lots of chasing each other, screaming and laughing! It was pretty funny to watch them all play with each other.
I didn’t take too many picture while Renae was here. Seems like the time always goes by so fast. They ended up leaving Saturday afternoon so they could have a day to get prepared before they start school again. It was probably a good thing they left when they did, because we got another couple of inches of snow last night. Which means that Rick was out scooping this morning again…I think he’s considering moving further south!
Christmas morning we opened presents and Noah must have been a very good boy this year! Santa got him a small drum set, but it doesn’t make a small noise, that’s for sure!!! It has already made its way upstairs in his new room! Santa also got him a puzzle, a couple of books and a farm set.
Rick’s parents came down before the snow started flying. They are hoping to leave on Sunday, but we’ll see how the roads are before they take off. They, of course, spoiled Noah! He got a pop-up tent, a firetruck, puzzle, a bowling set and a couple of Hot Wheels.
After lunch, Rick thought he’d start scooping the driveway. Must have been a good time for all the neighbors because most of them on our block were all outside starting to scoop. Rick’s Dad even went out and helped for a while. It still took them awhile to get it all done!
Today, Noah wanted to go for a walk. He just kept saying, “walk, walk, walk”, over and over again. So Rick and his Dad ventured out to look for some snow boots – they actually just wanted to check out the roads. They headed to Walmart, but they were sold out of boots and sleds, so off they went to Target. They found some boots there – we would have liked a bigger size, but they only had one size, so we got those. They are a size 5, which is what Noah is wearing now, so at least they work.
So we bundled Noah up and headed outside. At first he didn’t know what to think of all the snow, then he started getting into it! We put him in a box and slid him down the driveway, which he seemed to really like. Then Noah still wanted to go for his walk and he headed down the street. I guess he was serious when he was saying he wanted a walk!!
Well, I don’t think we will be heading anywhere this year. This is the first year I won’t be with my family for Christmas, so it’s diffidently different. I do have lots of candy that I made, so that’s the plus side!!! Not that I need it, but I figure I have an excuse…I just keep blaming it on the little girl!!
Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and is staying warm!!!
It’s that time of year again!!! We thought we’d take Noah to see Santa, even though we didn’t think he would really like it this year, but figured it was worth the memory!!! Santa was going to be at the gym Rick goes to and it’s only a few miles down the road.
We were actually a little early – yeah, early, can you believe that?!?! Rick thought it started at 9:00 and we got there about 9:20 to find out that it started at 9:30. (So technically, we were early by mistake!) We were pretty lucky that we were number 7 in line!! They also had breakfast there, so we got to have some pancakes and sausages to eat too. Noah devoured his pancake, and we even fed him breakfast before we left! It was a nice distraction while we waited for our number.
I was holding Noah so we could watch Santa before his turn, hoping that he would be okay to sit on his lap. I thought he might actually do pretty good because as we are standing in line, I asked him were Santa was and he got all excited and pointed to him. Then it was our turn…no such luck! As soon as I sat him on Santa’s lap, he looked up at him and started crying. We tried to get him to smile, but that just wasn’t going to work. The helper asked if I wanted to be in the picture and I told her nope – we wanted to capture the memory that Noah didn’t like it! Is that mean???
On Noah’s defense, he does have a pretty bad cold, so he hasn’t really been himself the last couple of days. So that could be part of it too. Before the picture, he didn’t look the best anyway…runny nose, coughing, red eyes. Maybe we shouldn’t have even tried the Santa thing, but if we didn’t do it now, we wouldn’t have gotten it done. I don’t think we are ever going to wait in the line at the mall for a picture with Santa. That might have all of us crying by the time we see Santa!!!
On our way to George, we stopped to eat at McDonald’s. We ended up sitting by a window and then all of the sudden, Noah got a big smile and pointed out the window. He seen this big duck. I have no idea what the meaning of this duck is, but it was great entertainment for Noah!!
On Thanksgiving Day, Mom’s side came over at noon to have a Thanksgiving meal. We had lots to eat and I don’t think anyone went home hungry!!
Here are my boys eating their Thanksgiving meal! We had my Dad’s side at night, so we had another big meal!!!
On Friday, we headed over to Renae and Micah’s house and put up Christmas lights on the house and the little boys played. Renae and I did some shopping for some girl clothes…let me tell you, it was a little overwhelming with all the pink stuff. Renae pretty much picked out everything and told me I had to deal with it! After we were done shopping, we headed back to George and hung Christmas lights on Mom’s house.
On Saturday, my cousin, Jeremy Klaassen, got married to Ashley Knuth. We thought we’d take a quick family picture being that my sister was there to take it!!
When we got home on Sunday, we were unpacking everything and I turned around and Noah was getting into the cooler. Then he ducked down and played hide-n-seek in the cooler!
Over the last couple of days, I’ve been putting up our Christmas decorations. Needless to say, it seems to take a little longer when Noah is right there trying to undo everything you just did! But he did help put some ornaments on the tree…he also must not think they look quite right because he keeps taking them off and putting them in different places.
Here’s a couple of pictures of him helping Dad straighen the tree, hiding under the tree and also helping Dad decorate the top of the tree. Rick got the ladder out and then came back into the kitchen for about a minute, then went back to the tree and Noah was climbing the ladder. I seriously think he is half monkey!
