Rick’s parents are down for the weekend. They came for Rick’s birthday and of course, I had a project for his Dad!!! He sorta expects it from me!!! They are working in our master bedroom closet – finishing the sides of the attic so I can use it for storage. Rick and I did one side a couple of years ago and with a new baby on the way, I need to start cleaning out our extra bedroom – which means I need to figure out what to do with everything in the bedroom closet!!! The attic part only had a little crawl hole, so the first part of the project is to get a door on it, so I can get in and out! Rick and I will add the floor and walls – nothing fancy, just some sheets of particle board.

Of course, Noah is not being left out! He is loving having Grandpa here – he will try to hide from him and then Grandpa comes up behind him and gets him, Noah screams and then he’ll do it all over again. It’s pretty funny to watch!
And Grandma is having a great time trying to keep up with him!!! This morning they were looking at the Toys R Us magazine trying to make a Christmas list. It sounds like he must have pointed to a farm set that was $130 – Grandma said that was too expensive. I guess he’ll have to keep looking!!!!

Last weekend we went to visit Rick’s parents in Mason City. We didn’t have anything planned, so it was just a relaxing weekend. We did try to get his Dad to work on a project while we were there, but he just wanted to relax. We feel bad, because everytime they are at our place, there is always something for him to work on, so we just wanted to help him back. He says he doesn’t need any more “supervisors”, but let me tell you….I’m a great supervisior!!!
Rick got to meet up with a few of his friends and they even went to a business open house in Mason City that had a tank run over some cars and a race between two fire stations to see who could cut a car in half faster! I even got to meet up with Joni!!! I haven’t seen her in a while, so it was nice to catch up!!!
On Saturday afternoon, we headed up to Northwood to stay overnight at the hotel there. Rick’s parents had a free night, so that was even better!!! Noah got to go swimming in the indoor pool and then we went back to the hotel room. There wasn’t much on tv, but as I was flipping thru the channels, “Monstor Jam: came on – the big 4×4 trucks. Well, Noah pretty much stopped in his tracks and watched the trucks on tv for about 45 minutes!!! He is definately all boy!!!

Rick’s Mom stayed with us for about a week and a half while Paul went up to Canada with some friends to go fishing. It was nice to have her help out with Noah so I could get caught up on some work. One day she was vaccuuming and Noah got his little vaccuum out and was helping her. He’s not always the best helper, but at least he’s cute!!!!
His forehead is looking better. The scab is starting to fall off. It ended up looking a lot worse than what we thought it would. Whenever we meet someone, they need to know what he did to get such a big scrape on his head…I guess it is hard not to notice it!!!

We headed back to George for my cousins wedding on Saturday, August 1st – congratulations Kristen and Travis!!!! On Sunday, we headed to the George pool in the early afternoon and then had a birthday party for Noah at the park. Monday night we went to watch Deanna play at the co-ed softball game and then went to Reid’s farm to shoot off some fireworks. The mosiquotes were pretty bad and I got bit up, even Noah had some bug bites. Tuesday we headed over to Rock Valley to go to the beach with Renae and the boys and then on the way home, stopped to see Ryan and family one last time. Then we were headed back to KC on Wednesday morning.

Rick’s parents, Paul & Marie, are celebrating their 50th Anniversary today!!! Last night we told them they needed to be dressed and ready to go by 4 o’clock. They had no idea what was going on, but at 4, the limo pulled up and we told them to go outside…SURPRISE!!! We rode around in the limo for awhile drinking some champagne and doing some site seeing. Then at 6 o’clock we went to the New Theatre Restaurant and had a great meal and watched “The Sound of Music”. They said they had a great time and enjoyed everything!!!
