Surprise Visitors

Posted by Rachel on Apr 26, 2010 in Family

I had a nice surprise late Saturday afternoon. The doorbell rang and, of course, Noah went running to the door, so I had to get it. (I don’t think I’ll be able to “hide” from those door-to-door salesman’s for awhile if Noah keeps running to the door!!!) But to my surprise, it wasn’t a salesman – it was brother Reid!!! He told me that I should have been a little more excited to see him, but I was so surprised to see him standing at my front door!

His friend, Ross, wanted to go to a Royals/Twins baseball game and asked Reid if he wanted to come along. It was raining on Saturday afternoon and they didn’t want to sit at the baseball game in that, so they came directly to our house. I think Reid had more fun playing with Noah’s train set anyway!!!

Sunday morning, there was some donut eating by all of use, some Mario Kart racing on the Wii by Rick and Ross and some train playing by Reid and Noah! Then we ordered Papa John’s – it’s a stipulation that when Reid’s here, we need to have Papa John’s at least once! After we ate, the boys needed to get going to the game.

It was a great weekend and Reid got to meet his niece for the first time!!!

Faith is Baptized

Posted by Rachel on Apr 22, 2010 in Faith, Family

Sunday morning, Faith was baptized at our church. My mom, sister, her two boys and Rick’s parents came for the occasion. Mom and Renae ended up deciding to come on Friday after school was out, so they didn’t get here until a little later that night, but I’m glad they did. That way, the cousins had all day Saturday to play. Kahle and Bodee really loved Faith – it was great to watch them with her!!

Sunday morning, Mom and Renae dressed Faith – they thought she needed to wear tights and a bow in her hair!! She also wore the same baptism outfit that I wore when I was baptized. There were also 3 other babies that were baptized the same time, so all the families stayed after church to have lunch. After everyone ate, we cleaned up and then Mom and Renae left from church. Rick’s parents came back to the house to pack up their stuff and then they were off.

It was a great weekend to spend with the family. Now we just need to make it back to Iowa for the rest of the family to see Faith!!! We’re thinking sometime the first part of May.

Who’s Who?

Posted by Rachel on Apr 13, 2010 in Faith, Noah

I thought this was a weird coincidence - I took a picture of Faith laying in the pack-n-play the other day and when I looked at the photo, I remember that I had a similar picture of Noah. So I looked thru my photos and found the one of Noah too – they are almost exactly the same picture!!!

Can you tell who is who??? Faith is the top picture (9 days old) and Noah is the bottom picture (15 days old)!

Colored Walls

Posted by Rachel on Apr 12, 2010 in Noah

Well, today Noah decided that he wanted to change the wall color in our living room to a red and green mixture with sticker accents. He was coloring all nice and I went to respond to an email at my desk. When I came back, I seen him coloring on the wall and well, sorta yelled at him. As you can see, he didn’t like to be yelled at! I just couldn’t believe he colored on the walls!! I washed the walls, but you can now see where I washed it, so I guess we’ll have to repaint that portion of the wall sometime.

Note to any other parents out there…get the washable crayons!!! They have to come out much better than these did!

Big Brother

Posted by Rachel on Apr 10, 2010 in Faith, Noah

Noah is really a big help with his baby sister. He now thinks it’s his job to give Faith her binky. When she starts to cry, he will run over to her and shove the binky back in her mouth. Sometimes he can’t find it because it fell down between the seat and her leg or is behind her neck and he’ll yell “help”. Once I find it, he’ll grab it from me and try to give it to her. She doesn’t always want it, but I think Noah assumes she does and he’ll try to force it in her mouth.

This morning I had her laying on the floor upstairs while I was doing some laundry and she started crying. Noah ran into her room and grabbed a stuffed animal and gave it to her. I thought that was pretty sweet of him!!!

Noah is also loving this nice weather. He wants to be outside all the time!!! Seems like he always wants to go outside at the wrong time…it’s either time to feed Faith, or someone needs a diaper change or it’s too windy to have Faith outside or something! But when we do go outside, he just runs around the yard, plays with balls or sidewalk chalk or plays in his sandbox. A fenced-in back yard would REALLY be nice so I could just let him run around and not have to worry about where he’s going to run off too!
