9 Months Old

Posted by Rachel on Apr 29, 2009 in Noah, Rick

Noah is 9 months old!!! He had his checkup yesterday and he’s doing good!! He weighs in at 20 pounds 7.7 ounces and he is 28.5 inches tall. He had one vaccination for Hepatitis B. Then we had to go to another building to have his blood drawn. The look for anemia, lead levels and check his blood count. He didn’t like getting the needle poked in him, but then again, who really does?? And I’m not sure if it hurts that much or if he just hates being pinned down!

This morning when I was changing his diaper, he was doing the “Crocodile Death Roll”. He just won’t lay still and keeps rolling over!!! I swear you need AT LEAST 2 people to change his diaper – which makes this really hard this week being that Rick is in California!!

Speaking of Rick, he’s having a great time in California. He’s there for some training in Google Apps. We are resellers for them and he’s trying to learn as much as he can. He keeps sending pictures, so I hope he’s learning something while he’s there instead of just having fun!!! He’ll be back home on Saturday afternoon.

Here it starts!!

Posted by Rachel on Apr 22, 2009 in Noah

Well, it has started! Our kitchen will never be the same again! This morning I was making Noah his breakfast and obviously, I wasn’t working fast enough. So he crawled over to this drawer and opened it. Then he thought he needed to stand next to it. Then he figured out that there was stuff inside, so he started pulling these lids out. And I’m sure he’ll be back again now that he knows what is in this drawer!

Yesterday we had to get out the gate to lock him in the living room. He was making a beeline towards the basement stairs. He can move pretty fast on the hardwoods floors, so I figured it’d be better to lock him in the living room!! He has also discovered the outlets so we needed to put some covers on those. We will need to put some door locks on some of the cabinets in the kitchen, so that is our next project!

Progress of a stand

Posted by Rachel on Apr 20, 2009 in Noah

Noah thinks he is getting to be such a big boy, that he now pulls himself up to stand…against about anything. He likes to stand next to the fireplace or in his crib. When he’s on the floor, he’ll put his butt up in the air and straighten his legs, so he looks like an upside down “V”. It’s pretty cute, but of course I never have the camera when he does this!

He is starting to get into the cabinets, so we need to do some Noah-proofing around here! He’ll see me open a door and he’ll crawl on over and open it himself, then look over at me, like “See Mom, I can do that too!”.

Late this afternoon, Rick was pounding on his drums…this time for a good cause! They played at the charity sale that will benefit the March of Dimes annual March for Babies Fundraiser. You can read about the charity sale here. The band had a good time playing for the crowd and we had a good time listening!!

Rick is posing very nicely for the picture!

What the heck is that???

Posted by Rachel on Apr 15, 2009 in Funny, Noah

I went to change Noah’s diaper yesterday afternoon and when I pulled up his shirt, my heart skipped a beat. His belly button didn’t look right – it was huge, sticking out and a different color. I thought it was infected or something, but I didn’t notice anything different when I changed him earlier – what the heck is wrong??? Oh, wait, it’s a piece of corn!! Nevermind!!

It’s amazing how fast your mind races!! I think it was only a second or two before I knew it was a piece of corn, but I had a lot of thoughts in that two seconds!!

Do you notice the lotion bottle that Noah is chewing on? Yeah, we need a distraction when we are changing him these days. He’s trying to roll over, I’m holding him down so we don’t get a mess all over, and he just won’t cooperate – I think he’s going to snap in half! So diaper changes tend to be pretty fast around here. His pants come off first and then he gets the distraction item, then it’s a race to see if I can get the diaper off, clean him up and get a new one on before he gets bored with the distraction item and wants to roll over!
